Join us for a webinar on How to Appeal the National Nuclear Regulator's (NNR) decision to Extend the Life of Koeberg Nuclear Power Station for a further twenty years. Time: 3 PM (SAST) on 10 September 2024.

The webinar will explain the process for submitting an appeal to the NNR, and give examples of what information could be included. We will unpack the NNR's decision to approve the Long Term Operation (LTO) license application for the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station including the safety risks, and detail the lack of transparency and accountability in the decision-making process.

SAFCEI's Appeal

  • The application for long term extension of the license for Koeberg did not comply with the long term operation regulations.
  • The national nuclear regulator considered out-of-date documents contained in the LTO application, and failed to consider other relevant considerations.
  • The decision that has been taken is irrational and unconstitutional.
