Statement: Who rules the roost? Corporate vs Community Poultry in Africa

At the World Social Forum in Cotonou, Benin, 110 representatives from more than 35 civil society organisations across over 20 African countries came together to challenge the growing corporate control of poultry production in Africa.

Their statement calls for greater support for small-scale farmers, indigenous chicken breeds, women and young producers, biodiversity and food sovereignty, while challenging the expansion of industrial poultry systems and dependence on corporate genetics, feed and other inputs.
