SAFCEI's submission on the Revised Electricity Pricing Policy (EPP) 2026

  • Published:

SAFCEI has submitted its response to South Africa’s Draft Revised Electricity Pricing Policy 2026, warning that the proposed framework risks deepening energy poverty if vulnerable households are not adequately protected.

Our submission calls for legally binding protections for low-income consumers, limits on fixed monthly charges, transparent pricing and dispute resolution, stronger municipal accountability, and support for community-owned renewable energy.

Electricity must remain an accessible and affordable public good. South Africa’s electricity reforms must put people, human dignity and social justice first.
