Join us for a special evening panel discussion co-hosted by SAFCEI and Earthlife Africa, with award-winning Russian environmentalist Vladimir Slivyak of Ecodefense, on the dangers of nuclear power. The event will take place on 23 July in Cape Town.

Vladimir Slivyak is a recipient of the 2021 Right Livelihood Award, widely known as the alternative Nobel Peace Prize. Vlad is one of Russia’s most committed and knowledgeable environmentalists who has been spearheading important grassroots campaigns against environmentally damaging practices for decades. He has stopped projects related to the exploitation of fossil fuels, the use of nuclear power and coal, and the shipment of radioactive waste from abroad. Slivyak is renowned in South Africa for leaking the secret Russia-South Africa agreement to procure 9600 MW of nuclear power.

With the announcement by the NNR on the 15th of July that the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station will have an extension of a further 20 years, his visit is both timely and relevant for South Africa as well. Please join us, seats are limited.
