Our FLEAT member in Uganda, Saidah Nakaliisa, representing the Muslim community recently shared an update on the one-year Environmental Training project they concluded after receiving a SAFCEI small grant in 2022.
The one-year Environmental Training project was implemented by Energizing Solutions working with Kasambya Community Zirobwe Luwero Muslim District under Uganda Muslim Supreme Council.
This community project was about the establishment of a Nursery bed and fruit tree orchard where many fruit trees were planted in front and behind of the Mosque after the community participated in a one-day training on;
Training took place on the 28th of April 2022 at Masjid (Mosque) Jamia Kasambya Namakofu Village with the attendance of both female and male participants.
The Kasambya Community looked after the planted trees within one year and Energizing Solution team did three monitoring visits to ensure the growth of the planted trees. The community is empowered and the orchards are going to be an income-generating activity for them.
