World Water Day is celebrated on 22nd March each year. It is a mean of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. The theme for 2019 is Water for all- living no one behind.
Whoever you are, wherever you are, water is your human right. Water is the most vital resource for life on Earth; no living thing exists without it. Sustainable Development Goal 6 is crystal clear: water for all by 2030. By definition, this means leaving no one behind[1]. But today, billions of people are still living without safe water – their households, schools, workplaces, farms and factories struggling to survive and thrive.
At a time of immense global challenges – poverty, inequalities, natural disasters, humanitarian crises and forced displacement – the 2019 edition of World Water Day looks at why people have been left behind and how access to water and sanitation and sustainable water management can be drivers of change[2].
