The NERSA hearings

The NERSA hearings continue into the second day. Groups like Women Energy and Climate Change Forum (WECCF) spoke of everyday hardships, and called for renewables as well as additional free basic electricity (FBE). The Pietermartzburg Agency for Community Social Action raised the issue of food security pointing out that their local research shows that if Eskom's increase goes through, families will be more than R300 short..see PACSA statement here.

SAFCEI welcomed the opportunity to present to the NERSA electricity panel. The regulator has a difficult time ahead, in weighing up all the stakeholder comments and then making a decision.  SAFCEI wishes them all strength in their complexity of their deliberations and hopes that ethics and justice will lead them to make their decision in the public interest.
