AFSA launches a new book on nutrition "Surviving COVID 19: The Neglected Remedy".
The Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA) proudly presents “Surviving COVID-19: The Neglected Remedy” – the first mini-Barefoot Guide and the first in a new Agroecology Series.
How best can people across Africa deal with COVID-19?
How can those in densely populated urban areas or remote rural villages best survive COVID-19 if they get infected?
This mini-Barefoot Guide provides answers that lie in our fields and local markets. You will find out in these pages what COVID-19 really is; why food is the best medicine; what foods to consume more; and what foods to avoid.
You will also discover how to obtain and prepare food to maintain its medicinal value. And which local and indigenous plants and traditional preparations provide the best nutrients. We celebrate our healthy traditional African diets based on this marvellous gift from nature, validated and boosted by modern scientific knowledge.
COVID-19 is a wakeup call to us all. Let’s turn the tide away from over-processed unhealthy foods produced using harmful chemicals and return to growing and eating a great variety of natural and nutritious foods.
Enjoy and share with your families, neighbours, students, friends and colleagues.
Happy reading! Good health!
