Statement on the 18th Conference of Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change
We, members of a wide range of faith communities of Southern Africa, believe all people have been given responsibility to care for creation. We are called to be custodians of this amazing planet, to care, to protect and look after it for future generations. It is not ours to possess. It is ours to pass on in a better state to our children.

On October 26, 2015, the heads of Catholic bishops’ federations on every continent issued a joint appeal to COP 21 delegates that they produce a “comprehensive and transformational agreement” to address global climate change during United Nations negotiations in Paris in December.
Buddhist leaders gathered together prior to the 21st Session of the Conference of Parties (COP21) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Paris, in order to add their voices to the growing calls for world leaders to cooperate with compassion and wisdom and reach an ambitious and effective climate agreement.
