We are thrilled to announce that this year’s guest speaker will be renowned environmental activist, Wanjira Mathai. Wanjira will be in conversation with faith eco-justice youth activist, Amber Julius, discussing Harnessing Africa's potential: Community-led solutions for the environmental and climate crisis, empowered by faith and good governance.
Wanjira Mathai is a renowned Kenyan environmental leader with a passion for creating positive change. As the Managing Director for Africa and Global Partnerships at the World Resources Institute (WRI), she tackles critical global issues such as deforestation and energy access. With a deep commitment to environmental sustainability, Wanjira serves as the Chair of the Wangari Maathai Foundation and previously was the Chair of the Green Belt Movement in Kenya. She has been named one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people for 2023.
Throughout her remarkable career spanning over two decades, Wanjira has been a beacon of inspiration, advocating for social and environmental transformation at both local and international levels. Her expertise and leadership have made a significant impact, driving meaningful engagement and fostering positive actions for a more sustainable future.
