World Animal Day is an international day of action for animal rights and welfare celebrated annually on 4 October. This year we’re celebrating it with the theme “shared planet”.
This is a perfect time to raise awareness about the cruel practices carried out on egg-laying hens.
It is inhumane to keep hens in battery cages as they cannot practice their natural behaviors such as sand-bathing, spreading their wings and walking around on open land and this can have negative health implications on both the hens and the egg consumers. It is our moral obligation to fight for their rights so they can also fully have an experience of this planet we share with them.
Join us as we fight for animal rights and advocate for sustainable farming by sending us a video no longer than 45 seconds, calling out farmers who keep egg-laying hens in cages and unhealthy environments or a picture of yourself holding a poster with any of the following hashtags; #CageFreeHens #Faiths4SustainableFarming or #SharedPlanet.
Send your responses to zwelisha@safcei.org.za or via WhatsApp to Zwelisha (078 109 5172) by 30th of September 2022.
